Starving to Lose Weight

Don't eat photo

Have you ever had a friend make a decision that you knew would hurt her?  What did you do for that friend?

Recently, someone I know shared that she would start the hCG diet.  I became very sad.  This person is not a close friend of mine, and the success rate is very good with hCG.  However, I simply cannot stomach watching others choose potentially harmful ways to lose weight.

The hCG protocol consists of a very low calorie diet (VLCD) accompanied by treatments of hCG.  hCG stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, a hormone present in both men and women, but which is produced in great amounts in pregnant females. Dr. A.T.W. Simeons’ research suggests a small, daily injection amount of hCG (approx. 125 IU to 200 IU), results in an average weight loss of 1 to 2 lbs a day when accompanied by a VLCD (very low calorie diet).

Excuse me?  Lose weight by starving yourself while you inject a pregnancy hormone so that you don’t feel hungry?  Is that why it’s called a “protocol”?  What does protocol even MEAN?

I don’t pretend to have all the answers when it comes to weight loss.  Just because I lost 100 pounds the “old-fashioned way” doesn’t make me the authority on how everyone should lose weight.  However, there is something HORRIBLY wrong with a society that would rather sacrifice their potential long-term health in exchange for short-term results.

In 60 years, there have been no studies that show adverse effects from HCG.  Big deal.  Remember the weight loss wonder drug, Fen-Phen?  They are still discovering serious heart complications that resulted from that crud, even though it was pulled off the market in 1997 by the FDA.

We are inundated with various weight loss products or programs that promise faster results with no side effects.  The problem is, the real side effects are never advertised.  Side effects such as lack of personal responsibility, empty wallets, and weight regain.

There are no short-cuts to long-term weight loss. It doesn’t matter if you have an upcoming wedding, a dream date, or a beach vacation planned.  The date should not be your motivation.  Your life should be.

Let me help you lose the weight for life. No gimmicks, and no side effects.  Just consistent and determined effort, one step at a time.  If I could do it, anyone can do it!  To get started, click here.  Not quite ready to join my group? 1. It truly frightens me what people will do to lose weight because society puts pressure on. Thank you for sharing this!

    1. It frightens me, too, Lydia! I know life is all about prioritizing, but I can’t imagine putting this diet on my list.
